While playing this game I could not pull myself away from the feeling that it doesn't dare to make choices when it comes to its core mechanics. As a result it's a little bit of everything:- It's a platformer of sorts but the platform segments pose no challenge to even the most inexperienced player. - It's a side scrolling shooter of sorts but the gunfights aren't very tactical, the controls and animations are clunky at times and the gameplay is sometimes even downright unfair in its mechanics. For example enemies standing behind enemies can shoot through their comrades and still hit you, while you can't shoot an enemy hiding behind the back of another enemy which leads to a lot of unpreventable deaths.- It's a puzzle game that at times forces you to move boxes around, activate lifts and take over enemies to flip switches and open doors. At the same time these segments are very easy and rarely take more than a few seconds to figure out, and at times can be so far fetched that they are downright annoying ( a certain puzzle in one of the later levels featuring 3 boxes and a lift springs to mind).Pros:- Beautiful artstyle- Nice musical store, especially during the cutscenes and some of the jetpack action scenesCons: - Somewhat clunky controls- Game doesn't dare to decide on what it is and as a result doesn't do any aspect really well. It was a great co-op couch game until most controllers stopped working with it under Steam (X-box controllers not working, PS4 controllers not working, Steam controller still works). So unless you have multiple Steam controllers, it's not longer a couch game. It was great until it broke.. Absolutely beautiful game. I loved it. The music is very good too.
